Wonderful beaches in the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic
The Conero Relais is located close to some of the most beautiful beaches on the Riviera, such as Urbani Beach, San Michele Beach and Sassi Neri Beach, which are easily accessible on foot via the specific paths, or by taking advantage of the convenient municipal transport.

URBANI BEACH
This enchanting crescent-shaped bay lies at the foot of the hamlet of Sirolo. It is about 8 minutes on foot from our Relais.
Characterised by fine gravel and pebbles, the beach is bordered to the south by a jetty and a characteristic natural hollow, while to the north it is protected by a semi-circular barrier of rocks. Here there is a short portion of free beach, a lido and a restaurant. On days when the sea is calm, you can take a pleasant walk along the coast to the beach of San Michele.
How to access
- From Sirolo Town Centre, continuing along Via Bosco
- With the shuttle bus service available in the summer months
Parking options
- Paid car park in Via Bosco
- Paid car park in Via Moricone
- Free parking in Piazza Municipio
SAN MICHELE BEACH
San Michele beach offers a long stretch of sand and very fine gravel, surrounded by the lush Mediterranean flora, white cliffs and the deep blue sea. This stretch of coastline is still one of the most beautiful and evocative places on the Conero Riviera. As you climb down the easy path, you will overlook one of the most impressive views of that stretch.
The beach features lidos as well as stretches of free beach. Thanks to a favourable mistral, San Michele is particularly popular with keen windsurfers.
How to access
- You can reach the beach on foot from the centre of Sirolo, following the path down through the woods from the Parco della Repubblica.
- In the summer months, a shuttle service to the beach is available, stopping at various points in the town.
Parking options
- Paid car parks are available in Piazza Brodolini and Piazza B. Gigli.
- In Via Vivaldi you can find both paid and free parking spaces.

SASSI NERI BEACH
The Sassi Neri (‘black stones’) shoreline owes its name to the dark rocks on the seabed. This wild and unequipped beach, featuring pebbles, gravel and rocks, is perfect for those who wish to enjoy the sea and nature in total peace and autonomy without lidos or comfortable sunbeds!
How to access
- You can reach the Sassi Neri beach on foot from the San Michele beach and heading north, or by following path number 303 from Sirolo.
- In the summer months, a shuttle bus service to the beach is available, stopping at various points in the town.
Parking options
- Paid car parking can be found in Piazza Brodolini and Piazza B. Gigli.
- Otherwise, Via Vivaldi offers both paid and free parking spaces.

SPIAGGIA DEL FRATE OR SOTTOSANTA
You will discover a paradise hidden among the white cliffs and lush vegetation of Mount Conero. Here, you will only hear the gentle sound of the waves crashing on the shore, creating a soothing melody. Spiaggia del Monaco is an enchanting cove of fine gravel, surrounded by the greenery of the Conero Park and the white limestone rock. It is well-kept and perfect for couples. The name (the Monk’s Beach) derives from the ancient 13th-century Franciscan monastery on the summit, but the inhabitants of Numana know it as ‘Sottosanta’ (‘under hallowed’) because of the cemetery right above it, where cholera patients were once buried. This explains the meaning of ‘Sottosanta’, as the area under the cemetery. The distinctive feature of this beach is a large white rock emerging from the sea called ‘Sasso del Bo’ or ‘Sasso del Bue’, (the Ox Stone).
How to access
- From the centre of Numana, you can follow a paved road downhill to the Spiaggiola, and then continue along the coast to Spiaggia del Monaco.
- From Numana’s marina, just follow the route along the coast through the Spiaggiola, which takes you straight to Spiaggia del Monaco.
- From Piazza Nuova in Numana, you can follow the signposted path to Spiaggiola, and from there you can continue to Spiaggia del Monaco.

‘I LAVI’ BEACH
Located just outside the centre of Sirolo and slightly to the south of the Urbani beach is the white limestone cliff, from which one can enjoy a breathtaking view. You will find neither lidos nor services in this tiny, breathtaking but spartan stretch. The place is only suitable for very active people.
How to access
- Following the road from Sirolo to the Urbani beach, there is a diversion leading to the ‘I Lavi’ cliffs.
- Through the coastal path that starts from the jetty at the Urbani beach and runs along the upper part of ‘I Lavi’
SPIAGGIA LE DUE SORELLE
Known for its wild and solitary beauty, the Spiaggia delle Due Sorelle (Two Sisters’ Beach) is considered one of the most fascinating beaches in Italy and is a symbol of the Conero Riviera.
Its name derives from the twin stacks that emerge from the crystal-clear water and which, seen from the north, resemble two nuns in prayer. This beach has gravel and pebbles, has no facilities, and is surrounded by vertical cliffs rising sheer from the sea, where nature takes centre stage and reigns supreme. The clear waters are perfect if you love snorkelling.
How to access (by sea only)
- In the summer, boats leave from the San Michele beach in Sirolo, the Port of Numana and Marcelli di Numana.
- Or alternatively, you can rent canoes, sup boards and other vessels from all the lidos of Sirolo, such as Spiaggia Urbani, San Michele and Sassi Neri.
WARNING: It is forbidden to cross Passo del Lupo, the path connecting Mount Conero to the Due Sorelle Bay.
ATTENZIONE: È vietato attraversare il Passo del Lupo, il sentiero che collega il Monte Conero alla Baia delle Due Sorelle.
